Nice Kilt!! Gourgous Country! Glad you got out of the storm but those are awesome pictures. Like that tartan, it is one that I can wear. Would like to get either the Cameron Hunting or the Ancient Taylor next.

I like this Cameron because its not as "busy." And...it just happens to be the school colors of our local high school. But wear it in honor of my great great great grandmother Catherine Cameron who emmigrated from Skye to Cape Breton Island.

Super pctures Ron, somehow I find it odd that you have a lot of snow there, in my simple way, I sort of think of 100 degree temperatures!

Nice pics Ron. Sorry about that high wind blowing over your tripod.
A tip I use is I take a fold away string type of bag in which to place rocks and fix to the centre of the tripod hanging down ... it gives it greater stability in the high winds and gales. (Any bag will do but one that takes as little space as possible to fit in my camera bag.) There must be a spare rock or two out in your region? I'm sure you could come up with something.

Thanks for that tip. Used it in my surveying days as a lad. 'course, I'd already hiked a mile from the car where my stash of stuff was. Just kept setting the tripod up again because I just couldn't believe it was really happening. Fortunately the ground was spongy from recent rains and the camera seems okay so far. And that close to the edge the cold wind does blow up kilt....figured I'd just pack it in before getting out became a difficult chore. Sure is pretty up there though.

thinking tripods and cameras
Remembering a favored quote:
"shooting with a 4x5 and tripod is like having an axe across your shoulders while shooting with a Leica is like having a pistol in your pocket"
I got that from Danny Lyons but I think he may have been borrowing from Cartier-Bresson.
Great kilt. I've got a Cameron Ancient Formal and a light-weight ancient hunting. Like'em both. May have to cast an eye to the red and black!
Do love the desert country. Why I'm here in Alpine land, I'm not quite sure. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Great pics as usual, Ron!
Looking at the first one, the song that came to mind was: “On a clear day, you can see forever . . .”
