    Celebration in "RiderNation"

On Sunday my Saskatchewan Roughriders were victorious in the 101st Grey Cup!

My wife snapped this shot of me just after the game ended.

Looking good Liam. I still haven't decided whether I am happy about the outcome of the game or sad. We have lived in both Saskatchewan and just outside of Hamilton and so at various times in my life have cheered for both the Riders and the Ticats. I was cheering for the Cats in the second half, just because I think the Grey Cup should always be a well contested game. I am certainly pleased that the Riders won... too bad they weren't beating the Argos... I guess that's what I'm really feeling. :-)

Have to agree with plaid preacher that a more balanced contest might have made for a more interesting game, but congrats on your win and your kilted team gear!

I agree as a football game it was one sided, which isn't usually the case for the Grey Cup. There have been some great ones over the years. I felt a twinge of sorrow for the TiCat fans - they are the second best fans in the CFL. Considering the start to their season, they had a great year and will be tough next year. That being said, it was wonderful to be a Rider fan. The pain of the 2009 13th man loss is somewhat eased. I live in Calgary and the Stampeders are my "second" favourite team. I cheer for them unless they are playing my Riders. There are enough Rider fans in Calgary that it is almost a home game when they play here. I fully expected the Grey cup to be Calgary vs Toronto, but it was great for Sask. to both host and win.

    Cheers....Bill

It is actually a "gopher" which is the mascot of the Riders. Appropriate for the prairies, although their are plenty of bears in northern Saskatchewan. (And who ever heard of a gopher in a kilt?) There is an offbeat museum in a small village about an our north of Calgary - Torrington - the "Gopher Hole Museum" which features "stuffed gophers dressed in various poses. Don't recall seeing a kilt though.
