Chaine des Rotisseurs dinner
I kilted up for the annual induction dinner for our chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs recently and thought I'd share a picture or two. The best comment was, "You won!"
My wife and I.

Our daughter came with us.

It was a fun evening.

Tell us why you were inducted into the Chaine?
I have "worked" a number of Chaine dinners and they have all been stupendous events. What was the menu like, ( in relation to the kilt and your accompanying kit of course)?
Si Deus, quis contra? Spence and Brown on my mother's side, Johnston from my father, proud member of Clan MacDuff!

Thank you.
Was the Holcombe your dad knows originally from Virginia, NC, or SC? If so, odds are that he's a distant relative. Our family picked up the name as a first name after a Holcombe married someone in the family in the 1800s. You know how Southern families can be; names are recycled.

Hi, Gordon.
I wasn't inducted at this dinner. I've been in the Chaine for years. The events are great -- chefs doing their best for others in the industry and for serious amateurs. I'm on the amateur side, having joined out of a deep fondness for eating wonderful food, but I'm close to the line with formal education in cooking.
What did you do in working the events and was in Taos? I would love to work in the kitchen for a Chaine event.

I dont know where the fellow was from. He was a Medic and was in Nam in 1968 or so with the 9th Infantry Division (River Rats) in the Mekong delta.

Once again the versatility of the kilt is fully demonstrated. You and the family look great together and the event sounds terrific. Well done!

Thank you, gentlemen. It was fun. Now all I need to do is convince my son that young ladies like young men in kilts, likely not a terribly difficult thing to do.
