    Chicago Kilt Run 2011

Here are some pics from Sunday's 2nd Annual Chicago Kilt Run

Members of the Chicago Police Pipe Band kicked off the event wearing Chicago Police Department tartan

There were more than 200 runners this year quite a few were kilted, but some kilts were, to say the least, interesting

The guy in the Black Stewart is a co-worker of mine. It was his first day kilted. He bought the kilt just for the run.

These guys are part of a group "Chicago Men in Kilts" - first time I've heard about them

    Here's the kilted bathtowel contingent

Here's Auld Argonian - He walked the course. Carl B was there too but I didn't get his picture

These guys were wearing Sport Kilts - love the blue hair

And here again are the Chicago Men in Kilts at the end of the race.

This guy was very creative in coming up with a kilt-like garment. WGN was filming the race http://www.wgntv.com/videobeta/0ce39...-Kilt-Run-held

Looks like it was a fun event! I assume the race was timed so that when completed you could head over to your local pub for a pint to cool you down....

Yeah, all the runners/walkers had timing chips. It was sponsored by an Irish pub which was just feet from the finish line. The event was scheduled to go on for 8 hours after the race, but I only made it for a couple of hours, then headed to the Duke of Perth for lunch with Auld Argonian and my co-worker.

Yes you did, you just didn't know it

You're right. I didn't see you hiding on the other side of the street.

O.K., I don't like the flat cap on the one guy, but get a load of the Robin Hood hat on the fellow at the left--he must be from the Sherwood Forest branch of the Chicago Men in Kilts.

I think I actually LIKE the Robin Hood hat---it could legitimize my wearing a feather, even though I am not armigerous...I am going to find a Robin Hood hat vendor...

Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

This looks like so much fun. Like the Robin Hood hat paired with an umbrella!
