A Couple of Irish Festivial Pics
Went to the Irish Festival yesterday, and had a very good time. The music was very good and the weather was nice. There were a lot more kilts than I had expected, most being Utilikilts. Would go again today but the weather is going to be way too hot and humid for me. Was a very nice way to spend an afternoon.
Here's how I was dressed. (apologies in advance to Jock for the matching, but it just sort of happened). I did feel a pressing need to get myself a pith helmet though.

A rare photo of the wily and elusive TurboKittie.

The games were very entertaining. Don't know where these guys get their energy.. they never seemed to stop.

One of the many Utilikilt folks. Very nice guy.

And the area was infested with Wolfhounds. Awesome dogs. I really want one!

As long as matching was an accident, it might be OK from a THCD point of view Scrunched down hose on the other hand...

Is that a Utilikilt? I can't see the characteristic "V" shaped pattern of snaps at the top of the apron...
Interesting outfit regardless, with a tartan plaid over the shoulder and a tartan flashes but a solid coloured kilt. Plus a rather large knife!

Looks like a fun day all round. The heavy athletes do tend to get a bit obsessive don't they? Here in England or the games I visit in Scotland, they are totally oblivious to any and all other activities.
I see that the wolfhounds did a good job - I couldn't spot one wolf in the pictures! When I was younger we had a Great Dane - it is like having a horse that thinks it has the right to sit on your lap.

No need to apologise my dear chap, matching does "sort of happen" from time to time!
Thank you for the interesting pictures.

Nice pictures, Mickey, and it’s especially nice to put a face to the name TurboKittie!

Oh, you didn't post some of my favorite pictures.
Like capturing the sweet goofiness of the puppy! Little guy was only 4 1/2 months old and has a lot of growing in front of him....

Or the piper

The couple from the back

And some of the more "interesting" action shots of the fellows involved in the games

Sorry, I'm not smart enough to recognize the different types. Anything that isn't "traditional" I tend to group as UKs. It was probably an Amerikilt, thinking back on it.
Here are a few more pics. Sorry guys, I tend to forget that 1) I'm not actually posting pics here so I'm not using up bandwidth (something I'm used to from other boards) and 2) This isn't my meager facebook page... which means that not everyone is familiar with me, the family, or this area.
Yes, the giant Guinness. I'll have just one please!

Here is a pic of our daughter, thoroughly enjoying her snowcone and balloon. In the far background, you can make out the elusive TurboKittie buying Celtic_GravityRebel (son... however he spells his name here) a deep-fried Snickers bar... while he's wearing his new leather fedora..with kilt... and pulling it off. (I'll let him post his own pics of himself)

Another action shot for the gamers.

And a caber throw, for those that may have never seen a man throw a telephone pole across the yard.

A small group of fine rides for the bikers here.

Here is a shot of one of the local mounted policemen. Bonus... You can make out another glimpse of the elusive TurboKittie in the mirror while she took the photo.

This all was held in St. Charles, MO at the actual departure place of the Lewis and Clark expedition. This is the memorial.

It all is right next to the historical, original main street, with original buildings.

This is the first double brick house built in the area. Not terribly thrilling to our overseas friends, but pretty old for us. It always cracks me up just a little.
