Daughter's Senior Night for Marching Band

Last night was senior night for the marching band. It was a bit chilly (35F/2C) and windy but otherwise nice. Hands were actually colder than my knees.

Great pictures. What tartan are the band members wearing, Gordon?

Isn't that the truth! The kilt is amazingly versatile when it come to regulating body temperature.

Not a bad look as far as band uniforms go.

They wear a Gordon dress tartan. My daughter would tell you they are pretty awesome looking uniforms but the gabardine wool is really really uncomfortably hot when they march in late August and Memorial Day weekend in May.

Here's a couple of photographs to give you a better view of the uniform.

My daughter loves marching band. Although she's not going to major in music, it's a major factor in her college search. She doesn't want to go to a large university, so it's quite easy to find schools that accept non music majors in their marching band program.

Congrats to your daughter. Flute: so much easier in marching band than the sousaphone. If I had only been so smart in high school.
