A day at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair
With everyone else thronging to the shopping malls on "Black Friday", it was an opportune time to to attend the relatively uncrowded opening day of this year's Great Dickens Christmas Fair. Given that this is San Francisco, it seems nearly everyone has a great assortment of costumes in their wardrobe. However, historical accuracy is never strictly observed at these events - it's all about having fun.
At the Adventurers Club one could listen to bombastic discourse on Victorian expeditions of discovery and the latest scientific knowledge.

Meeting up with Monkey@Arms and The Clever Little Monkey, we attempt to acquire the proper Victorian bearing.

A familiar face: Mr Folsom was there playing his multitude of insturments.

A steampunk kiltie!

The ray gun looked interesting so a visit the the Jules Verne workshop was next.

Hanging overhead was a model of the Nautilus.

The workbench was cluttered with inventions.

The professor said he was preparing for a trip to the moon. His assistant was armed to protect him from the Moon King and his minions.

One always needs a comely assistant.

The ghosts of Christmas.

All the walking builds up a thirst, so we retired to one of the many pubs.

Just around the corner was a Bohemian Club serving Absinthe. Fortunately they also had whisky.

Stepping outside, who should we meet but Kiltmbar (sans kilt) and an acquaintance with a special message for Panache.

Walkerk, Kiltmbar, The Lovely Ann, Monkey@Arms, and The Clever Little Monkey wish you all a Happy Christmas.

Great shots! Our Dickens event is next weekend, we've been speculating on how much steampunk we'll see there this year.
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

More kilt content...
In its article about the Dickens Fair the next day, the San Francisco Chronicle showed a photo of one of the workers setting up the props, attired in whot looked to be a Utilikilt workman. Apparently, this was considered so unremarkable that no mention of any kilt was included in the caption or the story.
Another sign of acceptance of the kilt as just another clothing choice?

Jaime,
About this guy with the sign,....

I know a guy, who knows a guy,...who can convince him to change his sign.
