Decorating a tree in the woods

A friend and I decided to decorate a tree next to a walking path at a popular spot going into the forest by a lake (this was on the winter solstice day so a while back now). It was quite fun and near the end some people were coming so we hid in behind out of site and listened. The tree had candy decorations and under the tree we put a bunch of bird seed, shelled peanuts and dog biscuits. I put this little "gnome door" I made into a nook at the base of the tree next to this tree. The door didn't open ... which may frustrate some wee folk

I thought it was funny to envision the first off-leash dog (usually ahead of their humans) finding this tree and desperately gobbling down as many dog treats as possible haha.

That's a cool idea. I've heard of people taking their popcorn-and-cranberry garlands off the tree in their house and stringing it on a tree outside for the birds to eat.

    Good on ya.

You should have left lembas cakes from the Elves.

Sounds like a neat idea for midwinter, though you might also consider sowing wildflower and grass seeds of your region if you can get them in bulk.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
