Well, let us all be thankful for out kilt dont's that didn't get snapped. Is there any connection between Dickens and the people who settled Galveston? Or do you all simply enjoy good literature?

No, Galveston island was originally "settled" by pirates in the late 1700's. The first permanent European settlements on the island were constructed in the early 1800's the pirate Jean Lafitte. Most of what is now Galveston's historic district was built in the mid to late 1800's, and in the 70's somebody thought it would be fun to re-enact Charles Dicken's Victorian London for a Christmas festival. We always have a good time!

Too bad too, there were some good "kilt don'ts" in the crowd!
