Dressed for the party
Last night I attended a holiday gathering for Jennifers school. She is an elementary special education teacher so this was a gathering of people of all ages, the majority young. It was a good gathering though a bit loud at times. Like any gathering many people ended up on their Itoys(cell phones) texting etc. Due to the small room we were in and the constant talking and visiting Jennifer and I didnt get a photo together. I was the only one kilted with some of her teacher friends anxioius to see me again, I wore a kilt last year too. Jennifer looked great in a skirt she had made from some beautiful wool I gave her. It was from B. Black and Sons and she sewed a fantastic skirt out of it. For myself I was wearing a kilt I recently bought from Xmark member pdcorlis. It is a USA kilt wool tweed and looked great. I have wanted a tweed kilt and when Phil put this one for sale I had to latch onto it. Though we didnt get any photos last night I put on my outfit this morning and snapped a couple of photos as proof of being kilted. Sorry for the quality I was using a webcam connected to my pc. There is a bit of red colour in the check on the tweed that is just camera induced. It is a beautiful kilt that, as usual, reperesents the quality of kilt making from USA Kilts.

Looking sharp, Paul. I have a couple of questions, though. Is there a pattern in the jacket - hard to tell with the resolution of the camera; and I love the tie. Is there any significance to it, or is it just a random plaid?

Sorry for the quality of the photo but yes there is a herringbone pattern in the jacket and vest, both made from the same fabric. The fabric is a nice grey herringbone that is jacket weight. The tie is just one I found on EBay and really liked the fall colours of it. Im sure someone might be able to look at it amd maybe identify a tartan but I think it is just a random one with some nice colour. Not to be too matchy matchy I paired the tie with some burnt orange/ancient red garter ties.
Here is a better view of the material in the vest that goes with the jacket.

The jacket is made using the Simplicity 5029 kilt jacket pattern though I modified it a bit for my own taste.
