Dressed up and down in Rose hunting...

Yesterday I attended the Western Mass. highland games in Greenfield, MA. It was a perfect day save for the occasional strong gust that challenged even the heaviest kilt pin. (I'll post some pics of the games later in another thread.)

As the thread title states I'm wearing Rose modern hunting. It's an 8yd., 16oz. tank by Lochassynt:

I should be wearing a new Rkilts braided leather sporran strap but the idiots at the postal service lost it somewhere between Roberts shop and my home. Robert was nice enough to ship me out another one right away but it hasn't gotten to me yet. Let's hope this one makes it.

The pleat shot didn't come out great because of the wind:

I wasn't planning to buy anything more than a pair of hose but I found a beautiful Lochcarron argyle jacket that fit me perfectly. The vendor was Bernard McGrath of Heather And Thistle from Keene, NH. http://www.heatherandthistle.com I'm specifically mentioning him because he was a great guy who gave me an awesome deal on the jacket. Plus, he immediately recognized my tartan and told me details about clan Rose that I didn't even know.

    ...and the gratuitous Hamish shot:

I'm also throwing in a shot of my pictish boar tattoo just 'cause I think it goes well with my kilt:

A great set of pics. Looking good both formal and casual.

I like that Rose hunting myself. It looks great and you wear it well. I really dig that boar. I think I may need to look into some pictish designs for my legs (only real baren spots left... lol.)

That is a great pleat to the sett. Who made the kilt?

I really feel I lucky to be associated with a clan that has a fantastic looking tartan. It's really one of my favorites. I'm planning to have Mathew Newsome make me a 4yd. box pleated kilt in Rose anciant hunting at some point.

I love the totemic imagery and symbolism found in Pictish art. There are a lot of Pictish designs available on the web. I designed my boar tattoo based on what I found by doing a simple Google search.

The kilt was made by Lochassynt http://www.lochassynt.com/mens-kilts.html. I'm not sure but I think the 16oz. Strome tartan came from Lochcarron.

Thanks all for the compliments. It's definitely an encouragement to wear my kilt more often. To be honest, yesterday was the first time I'd worn it in years. This forum is awesome!

The kilt looks great as does the boar. I've been trying to convince my wife that I need more ink and the Pictish boar was what I was shooting for. What I had come up with was slightly different but I like the looks of yours. I too like the the symbolism in the Pictish designs.

    Tony
