Dug me bass guitar out
I have'nt posted much in the last few weeks or gone on any country pub walks because we have been very busy in rehearsals. We have formed a new 'folk rock band'. We shall be gigging starting early 2008 with a hopefull short 8 day tour in the UK. The venues will be arts centres and the smaller theatres. One thing that we need to come up with rather quickly is a name for the new band. We have written new material as well as doing some of our older stuff as well. To describe our music its somewhere inbetween Jethro Tull n Pink Floyd .. it can be very rocky and/or very atmospheric. The line up is, Drums, Bass, Elec guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Mando cello, Fiddle, Keyboards and 2 Female backing vocals and my good lady on lead vocals. So have any of you X Markers got any idea what a name could be ... we particularily like 'middle earth' 'magical' names. Here's a quick pic with me bass guitar ... I shall be Cilted when we perform of course!

There is such a wide choice of "middle earth" names!
Some of them have Welsh connotations http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?LordOfTheRings so perhaps the name should be based upon them?

Having been through the Lord of the Rings phenomena several times...and with all due respect to your musical endeavours...I submit this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bored_of_the_Rings
and
http://amethyst-angel.com/bored_of_the_rings.html
...even if you don't find some names there, you're going to have a laugh anyway.
Though I still like "Arrowroot son of Arrowshirt".

Hmmm
Here are a few ideas that have popped in to my head, most of them Lord of the Rings references
Miners of Moria (Producing "treasure" in your music)
Rivendell (Elrond's home in Lord of the rings)
Grey Havens (the elfin home land in Lord of the Rings, the promised land)
Lothlórien
Gimli's Hammer
Tom Bombadil or Bombadil (a very musical character in Lord of the rings)
Pixy Dust
Strong Brew
Spell Bound
Flights of Fancy

I like Tirithion (from Minas Tirith - the Tower of Guard) because it sounds nice and Welsh.

How about Band of shee? (I know the Gaelic speeling is sin, but hardly anyone would get it.) Kind of sounds like Banshee
