    Dumfries and Galloway Pictures #12

As promised, here is a selection of pictures of my travels when I stayed at Ferintosh the week before last. The full set will be uploaded to my photo blog site at www.fotothing.com/cleftref .

These are all of Caerlaverock Castle but hopefully a few fresh views of it.

The only reasonably complete round tower.

    View from the rear terrace.

Looking up inside the complete round tower.

The rear terrace and rear moat.

What is left of the other round tower - might make a nice swimming pool!

The terrace and stairs which only lead to a narrow platform.

    More to come!

Looks like you got reasonable weather for your pics, Trefor.
If I recall correctly, the interpretation board explains that the staircase once led up into the Great Hall of the Nithsdale Lodge.

Indeed, and that rear terrace was actually at one time the banqueting hall with the collapsed wall on the right actually being the outer wall of the castle. Caerlaverock is a most interesting castle.
