Durango & Silverton RR my vacation PICS

If you want to see all the pictures on my fifteen day vacation then PM me with your e-mail address and then I can share my pictures with you.

Granted this is a kilt page but you would not want to wear a kilt on this train no matter where you sit because the cars will get flooded with coal dust and although you may not know it until the first part of the 2 ½ hour ride is over the grimy feeling you will have if you spend any time out on each car’s observation deck or in the open gondola cars.

    Nice and close!

Absolutely fantastic pics! It looks like you had a great vacation. I've ridden steam trains before when I was a child and know exactly what you mean about the coal dust. After the trip was over my face and clothes were so covered with soot that I looked like a 19th century street urchan.

Nothing like a steam excursion... and you're right about the grit and grime; I'd have left the kilt behind, too.
    Great pics!

    Thumbs up

Chris with these wonderful pictures we will excuse you from KILT duty for this portion of your vacation. Being raised in the coal fields of Southern Ohio I have seen the damage done by coal dust and I don't blame you one bit for not wearing any of your kilts for this part of your day.

Again thank you for sharing your outing with us!

I get to ride behind steam trains a lot on my local preserved railway but it's small fry compared with this one!

    I am, however, always kilted...
