Absolutely fantastic pics! It looks like you had a great vacation. I've ridden steam trains before when I was a child and know exactly what you mean about the coal dust. After the trip was over my face and clothes were so covered with soot that I looked like a 19th century street urchan.

Chris with these wonderful pictures we will excuse you from KILT duty for this portion of your vacation. Being raised in the coal fields of Southern Ohio I have seen the damage done by coal dust and I don't blame you one bit for not wearing any of your kilts for this part of your day.

I get to ride behind steam trains a lot on my local preserved railway but it's small fry compared with this one!
