Edinburgh Yesterday, Glasgow Today, Something to Celebrate

I've been away in the Scottish central belt for a couple of days. Back home tonight for one night then we are off on holiday (vacation) proper tomorrow to Germany till 24th August.

Victoria (vmac3205 on xmarks) and her husband Captain Sandy Mackenzie from USA, are currently touring Scotland, following their participation in the Clan Mackenzie Gathering earlier this month. We climbed to the top of Corstorphine Hill at Edinburgh Zoo yesterday and here's a photo of my wife Gabriele with our American friends.

Today Gabriele was at the driving test centre at Livingston, between Edinburgh and Glasgow, where she passed her final exam to gain her Certificate of Professional Competence as a bus driver in Scotland. She passed the exam with the smaller bus. All that remains now is a driving test on the larger bus in three weeks' time and then she will be fully qualified.

Meantime I took the opportunity to visit Glasgow where I climbed to the top of the Necropolis hill and took this photo looking down on Glasgow Cathedral.

The Provand’s Lordship, was built in 1471 as part of a hospital in the cathedral precinct.

Unfortunately my visit to Glasgow was too early for the World Pipe Band Championships this weekend but I was able to hear the pipes and drums when I caught up with Buchan Pipe Band at a practice session outside their hotel.

Perhaps Dr. Who was also in Glasgow today
    That's all folks.

Great photographs. Glasgow and Edinburgh appear to be beautiful cities. Wish that I could have seen Scotland. Thank you for sharing and the best of luck to your wife in her endeavors.
