    Evening at the opera

Third attempt to post opera photos. We saw "The Marriage of Figaro" at Detroit Opera. Great show! Some lovely ladies requested a photo with me at the restaurant where we had dinner before the show. Sadly I didn't think to have them send me a copy. Fortunately I was able to get several good photos with this beauty.

I'm off to see what might be termed The Scottish Opera (Lucia di Lammermoor) next week. As it's at the Royal Opera House in London I will wear trews.

My wife and I saw "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Opera in the Heights Opera House in Houston a couple of seasons ago, and I wore my kilt with argyll. We have season tickets to the Houston Grand Opera, and will do the semi-formal whenever they (eventually) do the production; although, hardly anyone does semi-formal (let alone white tie) for regular performances. Some (like me) will do black-tie for an opening night.

Macbeth is known as the Scottish opera. It is even more emphatically known as the Scottish play in the original Shakespeare. It is considered bad luck (bordering on catastrophic) to say Macbeth in a theater and there is a ritual to perform if you do it.

Marriage of Figaro is one of the few operas in which I have sung every bass or baritone role. It is one of my favorite operas to perform.

It was the first opera I saw and I have to say the Italian was different than the english in the supertitles. I liked the Italian better.
American by birth, human by coincidence and earthling by mistake.

I can think of a third opera set in Scotland, La Donna del Lago. Are there any others?
