Father's Day Brew Festival
Father's day happened to be one of the rare sunny days here in the Pacific Northwest. And it was a great day for one of the biggest Microbrew festivals in this part of the country.
I'm still putting together my tasting notes, and will post them later.
In the meantime, I wanted to post some of the event photos.
I don't know how many attended on Sunday, but I was told that 7,000 were there the day before.
The line to get in:

A shot of the grounds:

I was wearing my Stillwater Black Watch and a cream button down shirt, with the sleeves rolled up (no photos, sorry!) As I walked up to sample my first ale, the man at the got a grin on his face and just started shaking his head. When I got closer he said, "Sheer balls, man. Sheer balls."
I told him "Yes, but only to keep cool." It took him a couple beats, but he got it.
There were fewer kilties than prevoius years, which disappointed me. The vast majority of what I saw was Utilikilts:

Then there was one that seemed to qualify as a Kilt Don't for a variety of reasons:

I couldn't tell if he had a U.K. on backwards (which I would think would be counterintuitive) or if it was just how it was manufactured. I was going to mention it to him, but he seemed to be uncomfortable wearing it anyway, and I didn't want to give him a reason to take it out on me...Besides, he was bigger than me...

Father's Day Brewfest part 2
Soon it was time for the keg toss. Brewers toss an empty keg into wading pools with different point values.

It was "Father's" day after all...

Hmm. Let's get a closer look at that brewer:

The picture doesn't do her justice. She was a very friendly gal, and in great physical shape. She gave the guys a run for their money.
Here's the one I was tossing:

Just when I thought I was the only one to show up wearing a traditional:

I believe the tartan is MacGregor Ancient.
Not long after that, I came across this gent:

I had a nice conversation with him, and told him about XMarks. Hopefully he'll pop on at some point.
And here's the last kilt I expected to see there:

It's the first TFCK I'd seen close up. I think he was just as suprised that someone there recognized it. His name is Jeff Greer. He's been a part of a few celtic bands (that unfortunately I didn't recognize), and if I understood it correctly, toured the U.K. with them.
I saw fellow XMarker Efer a few times through the crowd, but by the time I fought my way through, I had lost sight of him.
Overall it was a great time. Fantastic weather, wonderful beer.
I saw someone wearing this T-shirt which I felt summed it up nicely:

Excellent pics. It seems that kilts/Utilikilts are quite popular in the Seattle area compared to other parts of the country. I've never seen so many people kilted at any event I've attended in the northeast (save for highland games, of course).

Looks like a fun time. I just love those north west micro brews and try to sample what I can when I visit my kids in Seattle.

Fun pictures! The F-H.C.A.G. and I love attending the Portland Brewfest (though sadly we won't make it this year). There are always a few Utilikilts to be seen.
The kilt the gentleman with the tie is wearing maybe one of the original Utilikilts that were pleated all the way around.
Cheers

I think Jamie, has pegged it. A vintage UK with the zipper opening, instead of snaps. That really is a fantastic number of kilt wearers for a non-Scottish event! At the pirate festival I went to on father's day weekend there were four UKs in attendance including my own.
Best regards,
Jake

Looks like it was alot of fun. In Houston, unfortunately, I have yet to see anyone kilted that is not attending a function that caters to it.
