Out and about today in my new Federal Memorial tartan. Designed by Dr. Smith. Rocky organized a group of us to have it woven by House of Edgar. Kathy Lare hand sewed mine up. I wear it to honor my two great great grandfathers who fought for the Union and "Saw the Elephant."
Had a bunch of folks ask about the tartan, "What Clan? - Its beautiful" Explained what it was and they were even more interested. Even met a clan Keith cousin from Flagstaff on the verge of getting his first kilt.
Stopped at Antelope Pass on the way to Marble Canyon and Lees Ferry. There's no apostrophe in Lees around here. If you stick one in then the price goes up 'cause they know you're a tourist.
Stopped at the old Navajo Bridge over Marble Canyon of the Colorado River. Its a pedestrian bridge now takes you out over the river. No condors today - they often lurk around the bridge.
Went on to Lees Ferry and stopped at the old fort there.
Then hiked up the river trail into Glen Canyon. Stopped at an old boiler they used to get pressure for the fluid mining at Lees Ferry.
Stopped at the dock on the way back. This is where the flat water raft trips through Glen Canyon stop.
Then went up Paria Canyon to Lonely Dell
Beautiful day. Lovely hike with a lovely friend. Back to town for a meal to replace the calories lost treking around.
