    A few Anniversary pics

Our first visitor of the day was next doors dog .... she is absolutely gorgeous and we quite often 'borrow' her for an evening ... you can just see she sprinkled the carpet in excitement by her paw ...

A couple of hours later we were meeting up with friends and family who were able to come with us. A lot of our friends unfortunately couldnt get the time off work. We met up in one of the Wetherspoons pubs down the town

Then we got the bus to Merthyr Tydfil ... this is just approaching Pontypridd ... the terraced houses along the valley in the pic is where Tom Jones was born and his family still live

As you arrive in Pontypridd you go past the first single span stone built bridge in the world. It is very famous and you can walk over it

As you leave Ponty you go passed another little watering hole we use on many an occassion This pub has been in the same family for just over 150 years

Once we got to Merthyr it wasnt long before we were on the little hopper bus to take us up into the mountains. Heres a welsh road sign

We then arrived at the Red Cow ... they gave us a little back room to have our meal ... The pub was still full because there had been a funeral. They were celebrating the life of Idris .. a well known villager, who drank 6 pints of beer in the pub every evening, 7 days a week, never had an illness but felt unwell one day and passed away within hours. He was 92.
Heres me and mrs in the back room

Then the mrs and my mum

The back room ... as most of you know from my previous postings this pub is a gem ... its full of 'real' people who make anyone who turns up welcome .. everyone talks to everyone ... if any of you guys come to Wales I will take you there to sample the atmosphere

It was getting late and we had buses to catch ... but even still you just dont want to leave the place

Then we were back in the city ... some went home but those left hit one of the modern type pubs for a few whiskeys

Then we went home .. it was 11pm by then ... when suddenly the door bell went and it was our neighbours with a few beers in hand .. so Elaine and myself started again .... it was a fab day and getting married 30yrs ago to who is my best friend as well as my wife is the best thing I could ever wish for.

Great to see you celebrating with MY good friends too, Derek. It is obvious you both had a super day. By the way, I am still waiting to be introduced to The Red Cow! Next visit, eh?

    Take care,
    Ham.
