For New Years Eve and Day, my fiance, Andrea, and I visited friends in Austin. Although my hair is not as dark as it used to be, I continued the tradition of first-footing for my long-term friends, Kevin and Mary. In the staged tradition, Mary opens the door to my ring... I enter bearing the usual bottle of whisky and a handful of wood for the fire. We also brought food items (but, not black bun)...

Steve; I'm just a few miles further up the road, you could have come by my place with a bottle too... Just saying.

Thanks ASinclair! Right, BD. Andrea and I may need to seriously consider the Rabbie Burns Supper in Salado next year. I thought I could go a year without a bit of the haggis, but I will have to tough it out.
I appreciate the wood because finding a lump of coal anywhere in the US these days is a challenge! Good of you to fulfill this necessary function for the holiday. Best AA
