First outing with my Tweed Argyll
Wouldn't you know, I'd forgotten to bring my camera, so had to make do with the cell phone. My apologies for the poor picture quality.
Tonight was my first outing in my new charcoal gray Tweed Argyll and Waistcoat, as my date, Jane, and I attended a Coast Guard Auxiliary
"Change of Watch" ceremony this evening. I was going to wear a more subdued tartan (perhaps my Black Watch), but decided to brighten
things up with my Buchanan instead.
I had a belt under my waistcoat [ :: hangs head in shame :: ], but I'd be taking the jacket and vest off at some point if things got too hot,
and despite this, I didn't seem to suffer "buckle bulge", in the waistcoat.

Very smart there!
Hard to beat charcoal tweed Argylls, isn't it? They look great with pretty much any tartan, and for pretty much any event.
What I especially like is how the grey functions to tone down the kilt. I'm not a fan of Buchanan Modern (I much prefer the old sett done up in old colours) and your outfit there is a perfect example of how a bright tartan can be softened by wearing it with grey. (The softening effect is strongest with mid-grey.)

I've already decided that my next 8yrd Traditional is also going to be a Buchanan, but in DC Dalgleish's Reproduction colors, specifically for it's toned-down appearance for evening wear especially. But I agree with you, that the Argyll seemed to soften the appearance of the modern colors quite a bit!
