I have always found that the hikes done on misty days are just that bit more memorable, things seem slightly different, familiar landmarks can be hidden from view and suddenly the mist will part to reveal them, then slowly veil them again.
When in the Pennines I have walked uphill in mist - though cloud might be a more accurate description, and then, in a few steps emerged into sunlight and clear skies with the mist lying in the vales and the higher places emerging like islands.

The pictures have an eerie beauty!

Derek: Beautiful pictures, as usual. Thanks for posting. The foggy ones brought "The Wind and the Willows" to mind - very bucolic. Love the pub pic - reminds me of my fireplace with the exception of the "log cage", or whatever it's called.

Derek, it just goes to show that you don`t need a beautiful day to take beautiful pictures, though of course the fog has it`s own unique beauty. The fire sure looks inviting. Nice pics.

Looks like a nice brisk day for a hike. I'll bet the fireplace in the second last picture sure was nice after a misty, damp hike!
