Forth of July: Panhandle, Texas Style.

I recently piobed the Forth of July parade in my wee city. The city chamber of commerce took these great pictures.

My town is very much as close to Andy Griffith's Mayberry as just about anyone can get.
It's always my pleasure to march with the VFW. I wish they would have gotten some pictures of the vets on the trailer behind me. The looks on their faces each year are priceless as they toss candy into the streets.

In case you're wondering; I actually dyed the hose I'm wearing. They were getting old, so I decided to turn their browning frown, lovat down! I could probably do them a bit darker, though.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

That is really neat to see. Somehow the smaller parades are much more exciting.

It was a great time the whole town (of ~2400) always attends whether it be the parade or the festivities on the court house lawn afterwards. It's the biggest event we have all year. After the parade, I helped my local church with sausage wraps, and had a few tunes on the stage/steps of the court house. Of course, later I played a bit during some fireworks while undergoing a barrage of mosquito bites; no kilt, but I was wearing a pith helmet for the shrapnel. (Ah, the boyish joys of burying fireworks underneath gravel, and launching shards of rocks into people's faces.)

    Very cool, Piper.
I wished we could get some pipers in our Memorial Day parade. Ironton, Ohio (my hometown) is host to the oldest continuously running Memorial Day parade in the US. It started in 1868. We have alot of Scottish heritage in our town. Wish it were more celebrated. Pictures look great. Keep up the good work.
