    Full Dress gig 1991

An old band-mate just sent me this photo from 1991

The pipers are my dearest departed friend Pipe Major Kevin Blandford (truly my brother in every sense of the word except biologically) and myself.

Our band used to wear all that kit.

    The tartan is British Columbia.

We can't quite read the band name on the drum, Richard.... British Columbia was obviously British Columbia.

The band was called by our sponsor's name, R.P. Blandford & Son LTD.

It was the import shop owned by Kevin Blandford's parents.

On the drum, and on Kevin's pipe banner, is the Blandford crest.

Here's another pic of Kevin and me a couple years earlier. Here we're not wearing the drone ribbons, or the swords:

BTW I visited the charming town of Blandford Forum while in England, presumably were the Blandford family originally hailed from.

That pipe band is still in existence. On Kevin's passing the name was changed to Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band. Also at that time the tartan was changed to Roxburgh District, the area where Kevin's Scottish side came from.

    The band's current appearance
