Small historical note, your General Mercer was the commanding confederate general in Savannah Ga when W T Sherman destroyed Georgia. His grandson was Johnny Mercer who wrote the song Moon River cheers Mattie

    Mattie,

Our General Hugh Mercer died Jan. 12. 1777 from wounds received in the Battle of Princeton in the American Revolutionary War. His descendant Hugh Weedon Mercer is the Confederate General you cite. A more contemporary descendent is General George Patton.
