GoPro at St. Patrick's Day Parade

Our band played two parades yesterday, and my husband attached a GoPro camera to my bass drone for both parades!

Here we are going down the street in Syracuse:

The GoPro camera on my bass drone, inside a waterproof case (definitely necessary for yesterday!):

View from my bass drone in the Utica Parade (37 degrees and raining lightly... *shudders*):

    And the same in Syracuse:

It's interesting that you post these fine photos as I was just joking about doing the same thing with my Drum Major mace for an event we did in Erie, PA.

Thanks Barb, and I can appreciate you doing this parade in such low temperatures!

You can get them at Amazon - just type in GoPro. Dave had it linked wirelessly to his iPhone, so he could watch the incoming video stream from the sidewalk as I marched down the road!

    Love that view!

Was video taken as well, or did he stick to stills?

Video - that's the beauty of the GoPro. Did the whole of both parades. It's surprising that it picked up as much sound as it did. The camera was inside a waterproof housing, as well as being clamped to my bass drone. It does pick up the bass, but not as much as you'd think. Can hear the band and a little crowd noise as well. Can also hear how tough it is to hold band tuning at 37 degrees.... ;-(

Dave says that he's anxious to "GoPro-me-up" for massed bands at the Hunter Mountain Pipe Band Championship in August - everyone marches down the main ski hill toward the ski lodge. It's pretty dramatic!
