    Grandfather Mountain 2016

Felt like sharing some of the pictures from this year's Grandfather Mountain Highland Games at MacRae Meadows in Linville, NC. This was my first year attending this specific event, but I feel certain this will definitely become my standard summer vacation. It was a minor religious experience getting to spend the weekend with friends and Clan family in the mountains. Pictures are chronological.

Meeting the one and only Graham McTavish, aka Dougal from Outlander. Pardon my almost swollen-shut eyes. We lost power all along 105 between Sugar and Grandfather Mtns on Friday night. Boone still had power, so we went and made a night of it at a local Irish bar near App State. Needless to say, a rough night was had by all:

Feeling decisively better after a scotch or two and solid haggis and eggs, doing a drunken jig with a fellow aptly-named "Coconut Pete" on the side of the stage where the band was performing:

An add-on to the above picture, video of the ordeal; enter me at around 4:30 - 4:45; the whole video summarily tells the story of our blossoming friendship which was quickly forgotten the next day when he was sober.. :

Standing at-ease, my best friend just had to snap a picture of me:

Two snapshots of my favorite Celtic band, Seven Nations, rocking the music grove at MacRae; we got to see them play five sets over three days:
