The Great Outdoors: Hiking, climbing and other kilted adventures.

Kilted on the Ernie Maxwell Trail

After a little alterations from the good folks at Sport Kilt, I was able to enjoy my new Hiker Kilt on the trail over the Memorial Day weekend. This is just below Humber Park in Idyllwild, CA along the Ernie Maxwell Trail.

I'll likely never wear trail shorts again after hiking in a kilt. It's the best way to go.

Super! I'm going to hike and hitchhike around GB in August and September, and I too will be wearing a kilt! Not done that before during hiking, so I'm curious to see if it's as comfortable as you say, but I have an inkling that it will be!

Oh yeah...seems like it's high tick season hereabouts so I might not be venturing out kilted into what passes for outback in these here parts....while ticks seem to find me unappetizing, the possibility of finding one in an unusual place might be all I can take right now.

Hard to beat being out in the woods on a trail in a kilt. Sitting by a fire with a beer/scotch in hand is pretty nice to when out camping. Great photo, looked like a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing. Off for a trail run myself, in my running kilt of course...

Once again, hiking about in my Sport Kilt Hiker. It was surprisingly warm that day. On the drive back to Portland from just south of Salem the dash temp gauge read 99.

Fortunately, the shaded waterfalls made for a much more pleasant experience but I am grateful that I remembered to pack my hiking kilt.

This is taken in Silver Falls State Park, OR.
