Great SEKS Burns Supper
Here are a few pix of the gathering last evening (1/24/09) to celebrate the Bard's 250th birthday.
Our grandson, Will, dropped in for a short visit, but he was a little grumpy and couldn't stay. But don't his kilt look nice?

NorCalPiper piped in as well. We had dueling pipers for a while.

We were delighted to meet Tattie Shaw (Dave, on the right) who was escorted by a lovely lass named Karen. They're both in the Navy:

An armed guard protected the haggis from any maraudin' rascals who might want to steal it or do it harm. SouthernScot has the basket hilt broad sword.

The program for the evening:

Maybe you'll want to see more:

Alan Callussy taosted the lassies

But may have been outdone by the lovely Haley, Princess of the Highlands and sometimes called "Little Turpin" or "Turpinette" who responded to the toast

Most--but not all--of the rabble gathered on the front stoop for a group shot.

The chairman (yours truly) organizes a cattle reivin' foray for after the meal. Beef all 'round tomorrow.

Atlanta Kiltie, Haley, and Turpin pose with SouthernScot on the side and Tattie Shaw in the back

Andrew Robison ( a very good friend's son) is a man who loves haggis

Rick's wife, Sherry, and daughter, Katie, sample the fare. Katy is a bit apprenhensive about the haggis, I fear.

Rick Robison himself is a haggis man, too. Note how patiently my bride, Lynn, is awaiting her turn at the haggis.

My buddy, David Christianson, and Bobby Scott dig in.

SouthernScot and Tammy discuss the finer points of a good haggis

Jim did a masterful job of organizing and pulling this gathering off in top style, right down to the program. And kudos to the landlord for being an excellent host. If this gets any bigger we'll have to move to larger digs next year.

What can I say? There is nothing quite like Great SEKS to ensure a rollicking Burns Night.

Wonderful photos Jim!
It looks like a grand time and a Burns Night Supper I would be most happy to attend someday.
Thanks for sharing the event with us
Cheers
