Happy Thankgiving from Germany
Just returned from Thanksgiving Dinner at the Grafenwoehr Dining Facility.

As part of the Commander's Staff, my wife and I were part of the official party welcoming invited German Guests to the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner.
For those of you who were never part of the American military, Thanksgiving is a really big event. The cooks go all out to prepare turkey, ham, roast beef, with all the vegetables and accompanying dishes including desserts, of cake and pumpkin pie. The Dining Facility was decorated with bright fall colors of orange and brown and many highly complex decorated cakes were on display to show the skill of the cooking staff.
My kilt is from Rocky at USA Kilts in his own design, German Heritage. The colors are from the black, red, and gold of the German Flag. He designed it a couple of years ago to celebrate his own German heritage. I was fortunate to be able to get the first kilt made from the fabric. The P.C. is new. First time I wore it. Sporran is also new. I think I'm about ready to go to Dumfries in January for Roberts Burns weekend at Ferintosh.
Received several nice comments on the kilt and outfit. So all in all a nice day.
Some of you are just yet getting up to start the day. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving day.
Tom

You look the very model of a modern kilted individual. Lucky you going to Ferintosh...we will all look forward to the piccies on that one.
Having never served, I didn't know about the Thanksgiving tradition in the military. It seems only appropriate, though...it's a family holiday and the military is, at it's best, that "band of brothers" that Willie the Shake spoke of in Henry V.
Best of the holiday to all.

My brother was in the Army for 20 years and I always tried to contact him on Thanksgiving. Yes, It is an important holiday for servicemen and woman who can not be at home with family.

Here's hoping that everyone has a great Thanksgiving and that we always remember that we have so much to be thankful for.

Tom,
Happy Thanksgiving, I am getting ready to retire from the Army and having served worldwide I know the joy and importance of a dining facility Thanksgiving dinner.
I really like your kilt the colors go so well with the PC, I am getting ready to have my first tank made and I want something with red and black and I already have my US Army kilt from Rocky so this may me an alternative or just another excuse to get yet another fine kilt form Rocky.

Looks sharp Tom. I went into the Army in '71. I had a meal or two in the dining facility (we called them a Mess Hall in those days.) My best Thanksgiving consisted of sharing c-rats with my team while enjoying the locally provided rain and mud.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the others still serving this great nation.
