Highland Dress at the symphony
Wearing my new converted Spencer and new Lovat blue hose with my Scott weathered. My girlfriend said I was getting a lot of smiles from the ladies... I guess I've gotten used to all the women looking when I'm kilted haha.

I would even go so far as to say "dashing"!
Si Deus, quis contra? Spence and Brown on my mother's side, Johnston from my father, proud member of Clan MacDuff!

You look great. I kilt up for San Francisco Symphony concerts, pretty regularly.

Well done laddie. I hope you don't mind be asking though. Why the bonnet?

I normally only wear the bonnet outside, took the picture in the hallway of my house. (if you're referring to my wearing it indoors) My girlfriend hand made it for me (and did a beautiful job) based on a pattern off the internet, and I went with the checkering because I thought it looked good. (if you're referring to the historical meaning of the checkering on the bonnet) Being of Germanic/Norse descent myself, I tend to take what I like rather than going for pure historical meanings. But at the same time, I've read up a bit on Clan Scott, whose tartan I was invited to wear by her family, and I try not to do anything disrepectful as I add my own flavor to my outfits. I actually prefer the Spencer style jacket to a true Prince Charlie because the tails and butt buttons are a nuisance in my opinion. Maybe more of an answer that you wanted, haha, but I tend to ramble with all my answers.

Edit: Mainly because it's a bespoke, handmade bonnet by a Scott lass that would kick my a** if I didn't wear it every chance I can.

Thank you for that, but I was actually wondering why wear it at all to the symphony? Now if you had said it was pouring with rain then I could understand, if you had said "because I wanted to" I would understand, all the reasons you have given I understand. All perfectly legitimate reasons to wear the bonnet. The angle I was coming from, is that it is not usual(NOT wrong) to wear a bonnet to an evening dress event(outwith the building of course) and I was just interested about your reasoning, that was all.

Jonathan.I have just seen your last reason in your edited post!
THAT IS the very best reason of all and you are a lucky fellow. Good luck to you both.
