Congratulations to your daughter. How could "Highland" High School NOT have pipes and drums? These days though, just being able to have performance music programs of any kind is good.

Thanks Mates. Highland has wonderful music programs, one of the reasons we built our home in the area.

O'Searcaigh is correct, in recent years budget cuts have hit music/art programs hard. A very stupid mistake! Band children excel in test scores, are socially developed and preform in the top 20 percentile. And I can attest... it keeps the kids from getting into trouble.

Both my daughters excel academically and musically, playing a combined 22 instruments. My oldest is a member of the ASU marching band. And my recent graduate has a "full ride" music scholarship at U of A playing the English horn and Oboe this fall.

I owe a huge portion of there success to band programs and caring Music Directors. Plus... from a guy with no musical talent, it brings on a big smile and a small tear every time they play.

Quick question from someone from a different education system - what ages are the children in a high school?

    Regards

In Arizona HS is 9th-12th grade, and they are 13-14 yrs old. Some states start HS at 10th grade, making Jr HS grades 7th-9th.
