While not having much to do this weekend I went along to my mates house . We are planning to make sporrans. He presented me with a small stag antler from Scotland. He said I could use the "rossette" or base of the antler as a button for the clasp on the sporran. After a couple of hours I got this result which I've posted in my gallery. Next will be the sporran. There's loads more antler so I'm not stopping just yet. It's great fun. PS. To all you animal lovers .The antler I used was found on a moor in Scotland. No shots were fired by me or my mate...OK. All the best.....David

no problem. I love animals, they taste great. the button looks like it will be a great addition. are you going to use it for the closure?. I put up a pic of the sporran opened flat so you could see it,s shape before it's pulled together. Dave
Thats right David I'm going to use it for the closure. By the look of your pictures the leather you have used for the flap is more plyable than I'll be using . The button is quite heavy so I hope it will act as a weight so that lid will fall right
This may sound dumb, but I've always wondered what those cool looking buttons were made of! See! Even at 41 I can learn something new!
you can soak and block the leather so it will hlod whatever position you need. Dave
