How Many Kilts Can You Spot in the Crowd?
Three weeks ago our local railway re-opened, having been closed in 1969. With Edinburgh now an hour closer to home, we travelled by train to Edinburgh today to ride back down the line on the tourist steam hauled train. I haven't been to Edinburgh very often in recent years and while here in my home town there is only one other regular kilt wearer, I was favourably surprised by the abundance of kilt wearers in Edinburgh, locals as well as tourists. This is a random shot from the footbridge in Edinburgh Waverley railway station. I can find seven kilted gents in this photo, have I missed any more?

There was a piper and drummer at our end of the line, playing The Bonnie Lass o'Fyvie to welcome the tourists as the steam train pulled in.

Was I kilted? Unfortunately I find my traditional high waisted kilts very uncomfortable to wear nowadays due to my hernia and they rarely get worn, but my six yard 21st Century Kilt with its lower waistline and shorter fell is worn often, including today.

I think I spot 7 kilts with a possible 8th, but I have a rather untrained American eye.

A pleasant surprise to see that many being worn "in the wild". Not overly smart, but nonetheless, kilts!

Do you think some of them may have been kilted to enjoy today's rugby match? I believe Scotland defeated USA at Elland Road in Leeds.

I think my American eye sees 8 kilts also (guy on the left side with the watch cap and walking away from the camera.)

That's the same potential 8th kilt I would count.

It's nice to see the folks wearing the kilt, but I wonder if it was for a sporting event.

Sporting event, wake, or pub crawl, still all kilts "in the wild"!

In my last trip to Edinburgh in June/ July I saw only half a dozen kilts being worn, and the only one not being worn by a piper was not a tartan kilt..
Looking at those pictures 4 are wearing what are types of Scotland rugby Shirt, so I agree with the thought they had either been or were going to the Rugby.
