The purpose of my trip to Ireland this week was a visit to the Irish National Transport Museum at Howth (pronounced Hoath), but I found it to be a picturesque and historic little town and thought I would share these pictures. Parts of the 15th century castle are now ruins, while other parts have been restored as a private residence. The Abbey ruins Main Street, with one of Howth's fine churches. Howth Harbour from the Martello Tower Golf course in the Castle grounds - the island in the background is a bird sanctuary and is known as Ireland's Eye.

Beeeeeeeeeautiful I long for the oppurtunity to visit the emerald isle.
OK, now I'm really in trouble. My wife is of Irish descent, Lynch, and will want to go there if we ever get the chance to head to Scotland. Better get a larger penny jar
Great pics! The castle looks to be in good shape. Who lives in it? Also, I like the fact that the restuarant in the 4th picture now offers outdoor seating. That is all I was waiting for before planning my trip!

Who lives there? Appears to be descendents of the original family More info. here http://www.darkisle.com/ireland/fort...wth/howth.html Dublin is just half an hour's flight from Glasgow or Prestwick airports and fares are very cheap if booked in advance - Aer Lingus from Glasgow or Ryanair from Prestwick for the equivalent of around fifty dollars return, so you can come to Scotland and stay with P1M and fit in a day trip to Ireland during your stay!!

I've come to that conclusion myself while planning next year's trip. Can't come over and NOT at least take a day trip over to Ireland. Several Ferries too depart not far from P1M. Nice pics. have to save even more pennies.
