    Hugh Mercer Day

Historic Fredericksburg celebrated the 289th birthday of Scottish American Patriot Gen/Dr Hugh Mercer last Sunday at his Apothecary shop. It was a beautiful day to debut my new Dixiecat Blue Bonnet O'er the Border.

The apothecary was a beehive of activity with visitors coming and going. Punch and cake was served to the visitors. The docents did a marvelous job.

Friends of mine provided music of the era until they saw me and played Scotland the Brave.

Afterwards fellow friends of the Scottish Society went to the Capital Ale House and raised a pint to our Revolutionary hero with the ale Revolution from local Heritage Brewery. Cheers!

i have been to the Mercer Apothecary Shop several times with my family when visiting Fredericksburg. It is a fun and entertaining little museum, and quite informative regarding 18th century medicine and medical practices.
    Congrats on a successful event!
