I had an incredibly busy summer

Much of it good but some bad. It stopped me from doing alot of editting of photos which can be very time consuming. Just deciding which pictures to keep and which to delete can be laborious. As one of the people I know who really makes his living from photography says you take 500 shots of eagles on an outing but seriously you only need a couple to sell. Any way I had a great visit to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons back at the end of May.

Everyone was concerned that perhaps the Queen of the Tetons had passed in hibernation so it was extremely exciting when she showed up directly in front of me with her new COTY

Really good pictures. Hope you had a good long lens to get that mama bear and cub picture. The cheeky little pica is so cute, another great picture. You must have had a wonderful trip.

I have a 150-600 mm lens. They were about 70 yards away from my spot. The wildlife ranger I had been discussing whether or not she had died was almost more excited than I was (not quite but almost). News went around the park like lightning that the Queen was alive. She is an incredible bear. 27 years old and still not only alive but with a new cub. Her last litter 4 years ago was 4 little cubs and she, as with all her other cubs except the first one. got them all the way to adulthood alive. It's not quite true but if you see a grizzly in Grand Teton she's it's mother or grand mother or great grand mother etc.
Pika are cheeky. You go to a rock schree in the higher parts of the mountains and then listen. They usually have a sentry out who has a high pitched bark. Then use the sound to find the area and look for movement. The sentry will sometimes come down closer and the bark at you for interrupting what ever you are interrupting. I have a picture from 3 years ago of one who came down to within 10 feet and sat on a rock berating me.

I'm thinking of going back to grand teton in a few weeks after a couple of photo gigs.
