It's August, time for this months kilt pic challenge
I want to see you standing there, doing absolutely nothing but standing there and posing for the camera for the sole purpose of showing off your kilt.
.........but the background needs to be HIGHLY UNUSUAL. -- as in, the Clan Tent doesn't cut it. Neither does the fireplace at the local Masonic Lodge or the pub down the corner..
HIGHLY UNUSUAL, I say!!
(note, Photoshop is allowed)

Taken last weekend. No photshop involved. Posing on a Japanese Bullet Train at the National Railway Museum in York England. This is the only Bullet Train outside of Japan, so it's quite unusual.

I could dust off this old classic....

It's quite an old picture, though, so it probably doesn't count.

I don't know if I can pass this off, or not....

HEaVILy....uh... yeah. Altered. I DO have that hat, though. This is the picture I use as an icebreaker when I have to give a talk to any of the research labs in my building...as in...Hey, you scientist-types, don't eat me, alive here! It usually works!

Ok! Here I am at the beginning of a trek up a little mountain in central Pennsylvania. I posed for a moment for my wife. Since she is shooting uphill, the kilt looks shorter than it really is (I guess, the opposite phenomena we often see here).

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. So I stole, err, borrowed this photo from Grizzbass' excellent collection of Yellowstone photos, here. Forgiveness v permission, but if he objects I'll pull this and find another source.
Photoshop wizard I'm not, but this group just seemed to be staring at a kiltie in their midst!

Just took this pic a couple weeks ago. Out on House Rock Valley Road - thirty miles of scenic dirt road. USA Kilts Casual in Isle of Skye Tartan.
Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s LDS families settled the Little Colorado River drainage out along Snowflake and Holbrook, Arizona. When a couple married they still had to have the marriage "sealed" in the nearest LDS temple which for them was in St. George, Utah....a very long trip. They followed the Honeymoon Trail from upstream on the Little Colorado down to Lees Ferry to cross the Colorado River, then up House Rock Valley Road to Kanab, Utah and on over to St. George. Then they had to do it again to get back home. Have read much about the travels but this is the first marker I've ever seen and it is in an extremely remote part of the old trail.
