Looks good.
Is your sporran just a bit high?
Its hard to find the right length, too high looks goofy, too low and it rubs the wrong things raw.

Possibly, but then that's why I'm here.
Trying on an outfit or two for an upcoming afternoon at the theater; in this next photo - so sporran a bit lower? How about hose? Is off white more appropriate?

Hi Layne, and welcome to X Marks. I think you look good, as you're dressed in that second photo. Looks like you are ready for an afternoon at the theater. It's difficult to tell but, your sporran looks to be at about the right position. It should be about 3 or 4 fingers below your belt buckle. (Although, with that jacket and waistcoat you're probably not wearing a belt.)
Your hose are fine but, if you felt you needed a change, try gray or a dark color that won't clash with the elements of your outfit (IMHO).
Have fun at the theater.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Thanks, though I'll probably be swapping the Royal Stewart for my new Grey Hamilton - and you are correct about the belt. Though I like wearing a belt with my kilts, I fell its a bit overkill with a coat.

Oh yea the sprorran
failed to mention, that while I love the look of a sporran, I have not yet found one that I personally like wearing.
I have recently (this past weekend) removed the chains and replaced them with an all leather buckled, adjustable strap, which I find much better looking and extremely more comfortable.
Wore it Saturday at the LSU vs Furman football game with a white long sleeve shirt , white hose, my ghillilators and my Camo kilt - I volunteer there at a lot of home games, directing parking in one of the higher end ($$$) parking lots near the stadium - not that I love parking cars, but the local Boy Scouts get all of the proceeds. Got an odd look or two in the admin office, but my son was on my side and the only issues later in admin was with the fact that we had numerous attendees wanting to get out of their cars to take pictures with me..... fun.
Hopefully, I'll get a copy of one or more and if so I'll post - I of course wore my white LSU ball cap and LSU kilt pin.
Anyway, (yea I get side tracked a lot) - I love the look and utility of a sporran, however I suppose I've just not found the right one as I only recently began acquiring more traditional looking kilts - always been a fan of more "utility" type due to the pockets, which I find a need for -
(promise I'll improve my backgrounds) but here is the black watch utility kilt that I wore when I took my youngest son and his "not date" and his friend and his "not date" to the movies two weeks ago

yea, kilt appears to be black - guess it was the photographer.

Layne,
yeah, sporran looks better in second photo. Seems when I'm wearing my kilt the sporran top is usually about where the button on jeans would be. I guess, as Nile said, about 3 or four fingers below a kilt belt or belly button.
A lot of folks on here, including myself, dont care for white or off white hose. Seems too generic. Dark solid colored hose for modern tartan, light solid colored hose(Lovat green, Lovat blue) for ancient tartan is a good guide. If you have Argyll or diced hose, those would look really nice for evening wear.
You are also correct in not wearing a belt with your waistcoat/vest and jacket. That has been discussed on here several times and though it can be done, generally, it isnt.
Enjoy your evening at the theater and welcome to Xmarks!
Somebody ought to.
