Kilted again at the US Sail Boat Show in Annapolis, MD
Again, this year, I wore a kilt to the United States Sail Boat Show in Annapolis, MD. My wife, Susan, and I have been attending this annual event for about 30 years now. I wore a kilt last year and found it such a positive experience that I decided to do it again this year.
We attended a work related event in Havre de Grace, MD the day before (also kilted) and stayed at the Spencer-Silver Mansion (1896) a High Victorian stone mansion that's now a bed and breakfast. Here we are in front of the mansion before we left for the boat show.

At the boat show, we visited the Hendrick's Gin tent to taste some samples of their excellent liquor. Hendrick's Gin is made in Scotland and though the folks working there wore various costumes, no one had a kilt on; that is until I arrived. A young lady who worked there wanted a picture with me so my wife obliged.

OK, one more picture. This is the Catalina sail boat display. My wife and I have an older Catalina sail boat that we sail on the Chesapeake Bay.

Thank you,
Nile
Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. I had planned to attend this event, but had last minute commitments. Glad you enjoyed it. Nice photos. How often do you sail your Catalina?

Sailing is one of my favourite activities where a kilt is not appropriate. I can just envisage the result if one got caught in a winch. There is always apres-sail though.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I was born in Annapolis, lived there (off and on) for 32 of my 52 years. I've been inside either boat show (sailboat or power boat) just once. The twenty years I was away was while I was in the Army. An Army buddy currently stationed in Carlisle, PA wanted to go. He drove down with his family after I retired and returned to Annapolis in 2011.

Thank you all for the nice comments.
Mark, we spend almost every weekend of the Chesapeake sailing season at our boat and sail as often as we can but, not as much as we would like to. Usually we do a one or two week cruse each year and day-sail occasionally. When we retire, we plan to live aboard for extended periods and hope to take it down the ditch (inter coastal waterway) to Florida and/or the Caribbean.
Our boat's name is Sansheraght. The first sailboat we had was named 'Whisper' (also a Catalina) so we decided to use the same name for this boat but we chose the Gaelic translation 'sansheragh', which means 'to whisper' (or perhaps, more literally 'without sound').

She's a beauty, Nile! Let me know if you ever need an extra crewmember.
