Kilted Camping at Sunset Beach

The family got away to go camping at Sunset Beach in Watsonville this week. I thought I would share a few pictures from outr trip

Lots of great bird watching! There were wonderful great flocks of magestic Brown Pelicans and white California gulls filled the sky. Pacing the surf were Marbled Godwits and Long-Billed Curlews.

One morning we watched a pod of dolphins hunting fish just beyond the surf with a lone seal keeping them company. At night there were a host of bats flying in the dusk. My little girl and I sat there fascinated at their whirling dance as they fed on their insect prey.

Since it was "Sunset Beach" it seemed appropriate to watch the sunset from the beach

After packing up our campsite we went down to the beach one last time to let the kids play in the surf.

The tide brought this up onto the beach.

In the language of flowers, I believe one of the meanings of a yellow rose is "good bye". So it seemed a fitting way to end our trip. After two days of playing on the windy beach the children were quite tuckered out.
