    Kilted Hike at Rouge Park

I went for a hike in Rouge Valley National Park near Toronto today. The weather was hovering around 8 degrees Celsius with some showers and hail thrown in for good measure. All in all a great day to test drive my new hose and my DIY sporran. The sporran comfortably held my wallet, keys, cell phone, water bottle, change purse, swiss army knife and sunscreen. I only needed an small bag to carry my Goretex shell in case of rain. Got a lot of positive comments from other hikers.

Yeah the weather was a little mental but I only pulled out the camera when it was clear. I'd love some feedback on the sporran. I'm impressed with the utility but do you think such a large sporran can work? I've seen some oversized vintage military ones but this might be the largest one I've seen.

Well done! I think the sporran is fine for outdoor pursuits.

I'm thinking it would probably be too out of proportion for smart day wear with my tweed jacket. Too bad though. I prefer the brown to my black leather day sporran.

I think so too. Well, you could always invest in a smart, daywear sporran in brown leather!

I will. I tried to do so recently and purchased a nice looking one from ebay but, as you may recall, it turned out to be a boy's size so I'm back to watching the auctions. Scottish Festival on the 25th weekend. Maybe I'll trot out the DIY fox sporran for that.
