Went to the NAMM show yesterday morning, on my way to a 90th Birthday party piping gig. The NAMM show is a huge music industry trade show. Instrument, instrument accessory, software, etc manufacturers have pavillions or booths and retailers check out what's new. (NAMM=National Association of Music Manufacturers, I think.) Every year the LA Scots Pipe Band plays at a Thursday night tribute for all those in the music industry who have passed the previous year. Anyhow here I am posing with Tony Dixon, the wonderful English maker of whistles and flutes. I'm holding Tony's newest creation, a prototype conical-bore Low D whistle, which by the way plays great. I spotted other kilts: -a Scottish guy working at the booth of an Italian cymbal manufacturer wearing an Italian football shirt and a kilt of the "Italian tartan" -a guy wearing a black Utilikilt

Looking sharp!
Looks good. What was the color of the kilt hose?

I don't remember what colour kilt hose the Scottish guy in the "Italian tartan" kilt wore. I was wearing a pair of hose I picked up at a Highland Games last year, a very nice colour in the middle between Lovat Blue and Lovat Green, which seems to go nicely with both my kilts. I have charcoal grey hose but with the charcoal grey jacket it's just too much grey to my eye. I love that sporran so much that I wear it all the time now. I have several others but they sit in the closet!
Looking good!
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.
One of our pipers just posted this photo on FaceBook of our Thursday night performance. Striking in the pipes to play Amazing Grace. I'm closest to the drum section We wear Muted Drummond of Perth kilts (for those tartan-spotters out there).
Oooohh I'd love to have been there. I have a mate who is looking to buy a left handed mandolin from Hobgoblin Music. He's a whistle player too I might add. I love music fairs but haven't been to one in ages... Thanks for sharing that.
