Kilted outing to a friends party

My good friend, John and his wife KC, are known for their annual "Jimmy Buffett" parties. Its a Carribean Cowboy themed party with a smattering of cowboys, indians, and bikers.. fun was had by all...
Since the theme was dress tacky.. I thought about the comments on the site... and I played them out a bit, subtly..while not all together tacky... I enjoyed throwing this outfit together. (Disclaimer) I will not normally dress in this manner.. its was in fun to express a fashion no no...

My girlfriend is checking out my off white hose and mixing of the brown belt and black sporran.. topped off with my flatcap..

after her approval... she willingly posed for a picture with me...LOL... she seemed to enjoy the attention I received.. because I included her in my replies to the "question".

The kilt, is a Tara (Murphy) casual from USAKilts... my flatcap is a gameskeeper tweed, which I bought from an EBay seller in England... my offwhite hose are hardly noticeable, due to my untanned legs...LOL

It was a good time, had by all... I would have liked to have taken pictures of the various events for you.. but since this is a family friendly site...LOL... we will just say... free alcohol and wild women do not give a kilt wearer much modesty...LOL

I did have a pretty good chuckle when a member of a local motorcycle club, approached me and said it takes a confident man to wear a kilt, especially in that enviroment.. and he didn't think he could have done it....

Nice looking kilt. I just picked up a the same USA casual Tara tartan myself. Amazingly that tartan looks just great with any color shirt -something I was worried about at first. By the way your girlfriend's look is priceless in your first photo.

Right Jock, not one word, not even a letter! This is being done solely to test your resolve and blood pressure! Its a good job you are sitting down--NO Jock you don't need a whisky! No not even a look at the bottle!------------ OK, I can not restrain myself any more! Not only are you wearing white hose that I make no comment on, you are wearing a flat cap with the kilt and with extreme difficulty I will make no comment either. BUT, BUT, you have broken the cardinal rule of all time and have bent the cap's peak!!!! OH NO!!! Never ever bend a flat cap's peak! What am I going to do with you? If you were this side of the pond I would have you shot!-------on the spot! AS you are over there and with a pretty lady, I suppose I had better have a brandy instead-------just for medicinal purposes, you know! Good gracious man, what are you doing to me? What are you doing to an innocent flat cap? LOL

But Jock, he's relieved you of responsibility. By bending the peak, it is no longer flat, hence no longer a "flat cap" QED.

    Jock,
Calm down now, a wee dram for the blood pressure. The original post did state that what we call "tacky" was the order of the day. This translates into outright pitiful in English. Considering the offenses that are usual to these events, and not able to be shown on our family friendly forum, he is really rather conservative. It is just these types of events that one demonstrates "what NOT to wear" ( a US telly programme ).
    Cheers

Your great country has much to be proud about, of that there is no doubt, but I have to say, on occasion, you chaps do make one wonder what goes on over there!

you are more than welcome to pop over for a visit Jock... I can assure you, I could take you to a few events you would never experience in Scotland.. like a Native American Powwow.. Ft Worth is well known for its Cowboy culture and the Stockyards are a very popular tourist attraction.. or I could let you experience some of the Mexican cultural events.. or even I could ask my friends put on a Jimmy Buffett party in your honor...

Jimmy Buffett is a country singer who is refered to as a carribean cowboy..originally from Texas, he resides in south Florida and has embraced their unique lifestyle.. His concerts are well known for his fans parking lot parties..

LOL.. I bet you would enjoy the tour... I drive a 3/4 ton four door Ford Superduty Lariat pickup truck.. a large truck with leather interior and all electric controls..LOL..

That is very kind of you. Sadly, for the time being, whilst the mind may be willing, the rest of me is, well, grounded!
