    Kilted on the Plantation

I spent this week at Williamsburg, VA with my family and we took the opportunity to go out and see a couple of the plantations on the James River. I decided I was going to go kilted this time so I took my UK. I didn't get one comment or strange look. Well, maybe a couple of double-takes. I tried to pack lightly so I didn't bring the usual boots, opting for just tennis shoes. We also went to Busch Gardens and got to see a wonderful Irish Step Dancing show. I was disappointed however that in the "Scotland" portion of the park they have done away with the Scottish-themed gift shop and replaced it with an Annheiser-Busch gift shop. Oh well, it's their park.

This is me by the Taps Memorial at Berkley Plantation:

Here I am just after a total downpour standing in front of Shirley Plantation:

Last but not least, I went out to the garden at Shirley to "Put on the Ham:"

Yes but is the Scottish shop still at Colonial Williamsburg (been years since I've been there)?

Adam, unfortunately we didn't get down to that part of town other than driving through. It was still there on our last trip which was maybe a couple of years ago. I tried to catch a glimpse as we drove past that street but with all the foot traffic it was too difficult to see anything. We had done the Williamsburg/Yorktown/Jamestown thing and wanted to do something a little different this time.

Yep. Scotland House is still there! I go there all the time to buy gifts and such. I just wish they would get a web site.

Great photos, sounds like you had a nice day out. And that Utilikilt completes a great casual look.

Great pics, Macsim...not boring at all but I think you may need to work on the "Ham" a bit more (but I'll let him be the judge of that).

    Thanks for sharing!

It's really neat to see Kilts in historic places. Seems to add a touch of class.
