Kilted at the Prom
Was sort of "required" to go. I sit on the board of directors of our city library and our domestic violence shelter. Both agencies combined to put on a joint fundraiser. An Adult Prom. Had to be over 21 to attend. Singles were welcome. Not a new idea, but new for our little town.
Kilted up in my Federal Memorial tartan kilt and an old "pirate" shirt my daughter bought me years ago...wanted to wear my Prince Charlie but it turns out it shrunk in the closet as did my tux shirt. Since would be dancing all night decided to go comfy. So vest in lieu of a sporran too.

Lady in the pic is a local friend that I shared some dances with. Sure was nice not to worry about a school principal or a school board telling me I couldn't wear a kilt. Nice to get the "nice kilt" compliments and tartan questions. Met two people there that knew me but I didn't know them. Asked where/how we'd met they said nowhere, just knew it was Ron that wears the kilt around town.
Was a bit of a treat for me since I missed my Senior Prom back in 1962. Had a date, all set, and a couple hours before prom started the girl called and backed out. She said her best friend didn't get asked to the prom and was weeping about it so she was gonna go spend the night comforting her friend rather than attend with me...but, but, but...
So tonight, got that prom.

( btw- I want her jacket, I could let it out just a bit, shorten it, and have one heck of a lifetime accessory....)

Better late than never.
I like that tartan.
You look comfortable, but I'm little curious, didn't the vest cause your back get a little warm when dancing?

Hey Hawk, your Dine' brethren can cut a rug for sure!
It was a cool evening and at my advanced age I'd dance a few, sit out a few, so didn't heat up from the vest...wouldn't try it in the summer though - for sure.
She was so proud of that jacket. It just came in a few days before. She snatched it up on ebay for $80. What may not be evident is that the trim is all HAND beaded...someone put a lot of sweat into those designs.

Ron: Fess up. You two were voted Prom Queen and King, right? If not, you got robbed! Nice kilt, but I love her jacket - beautiful bead work. Dance on!

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
