    Kilted "Tough Mudder"

The "Tough Mudder" Great Northeast Challenge was held in Westbrook, Maine over the weekend. If you're not familiar, it's an 11 mile course of mud and water with 20 insane obstacles thrown in along the way. I saw a dozen or so kilted warrriors among the 8,000 "mudders" who participated. Here's a photo of one of them and a couple of others from along the course.

And now we know why people from Maine are called "Mainiacs". Seriously though it looks like a fun time was had by all. If they had had these things 50 years ago I would probably be right there with them.

One of my sons has competed in those competitions for years and has the t-shirt to prove it. Now I'm trying to get him and another of my 3 sons interested in highland games.

I "ran" the Rugged Maniac, a 5K similar race a few years ago. I didn't do it kilted, but changed into my OD Utilikilt for the post race recovery festivities. I put "ran" in quote marks because I am not the lean, mean, fighting machine I used to be. I successfully negotiated every obstacle, and I even beat a couple of elderly folks who were also participating.
