A Kilted Wedding
This wedding was the reason I found XMTS and started wearing kilts...
My brother got married May 15th, and wanted all his brothers in the wedding party, along with a couple of friends, and all of us in kilts...
Ready to leave for the church... I am at the far right, the groom is immediately on my right. Next to him is the best man, then our youngest brother, followed by brother # 2 holding his 1-1/2 yr old, and finally another friend on the far left.

After the wedding - four brothers with the flower girl - sort of an adopted sister!
Tartans from the left: Western Isles, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Robertson (red) and Robertson Hunting. The lighting is not great for tartan details, but we looked great! My mother made all of the kilts at various times - the RCMP is borrowed from a cousin who is a serving member of the RCMP.

At the reception - my only sister, the youngest of the 5 of us, decided she had to wear a pant suit to the wedding - so that everyone would know "someone in the family wore pants"! I politely explained to her that we were wearing "traditional male garments"... and so was she! She is a highland dance instructor, and wears a kilt beautifully!

Some of the entertainment at the reception:
From the left - cousin, sister, bride, groom, daughter #1 (outgrowing *another* kilt!), sister in law, cousin (wife of RCMP member). All the ladies in this picture - excluding the bride - dance(d) at the highland dance school where my sister teaches. My daughter danced the traditional sword dance, and the others managed to choreograph a beautiful new dance for the happy couple.

My lovely wife and I before the reception:
(I did not make her box pleated skirt, but I did iron it!)

And because you wouldn't know it was really a wedding without a shot or two of the wedding cake... My brother is currently working on his masters in Geology, and my newest sister has just finished her PhD in Volcanology - thus the requirement for all the rocks on the wedding cake. (as an aside - the bride's uncle is a professor of geology at the University of Victoria, and was closely studying the rocks on the wedding cake that yes, my mother made! He asked her where she collected all the rocks... not realizing they are all chocolate!)

And because the bride and groom have both spent far too much of the past 5 years in Australia / Tasmania, the cake toppers had to be kangaroos... but with a distinctly Scottish twist!

The reception and accommodations for this festive weekend were hosted by the Talking Rock Resort and Quuaout Lodge on the shores of the Little Shuswap lake in British Columbia. Despite being in the midst of renovations, they made us feel welcome, and we had a great time! I would definitely recommend the Talking Rock Resort for anyone traveling in that area!
Thanks for joining us for the party!
