Very nice! I love those types of weddings- very relaxed and fun. Congrats to your son and new daughter.

Congratulations to everyone!
In the 4th photo, it appears the gentleman has his sporran turned all the way to the rear for dancing. Is that accurate? I've pushed mine to the hip but never all the way to the rear. I might have to try that next time.

Thank you for posting the photos. Always good to see how other people dress for formal (and not so formal) occasions. How to see more!

What a great wedding! Everyone looks like they are having so much fun! Love your brass cantled sporran.
Great to see all the kilts being worn by Scots. We hear so much about how the kilt is NOT worn in Scotland, it is good to see evidence to the contrary. I am reminded of Ambrose Bierce's taxonomy: "Kilt, noun. A costume sometimes worn by Scotchmen in America and Americans in Scotland."
Not so, not so...
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

Thanks for all the comments - yes it was a very relaxed and fun wedding.
Cavscout - I suspect the sporran started on the hip and ended up at the back as a result of sustained and rapid swinging during the Orcadian Strip the Willow!
BobsYourUncle - The brass cantle was found in a box of odd cantles in a second-hand kilt shop and bought for very little. I made the bag from a camel-skin briefcase that I bought many years ago in the souks of Marrakesh. I wonder if a camel-leather sporran is a first?
