I just got back from Vegas. I had a great time at the Games. Yes I bought a "yard of ale" from an open-air bar on Fremont Street that had scantily clad girls dancing on top of the bar, no I didn't gamble a cent. Anyhow on Friday night they supposedly set the Guinness Record for most cabers tossed simultaneously Then the LA Scots performed with a Marine Corps band. The Scots maintain a set of Concert Pitch chanters for such things Early Saturday, it's time for solo piping. Some of the competitors Judges and competitors near and far A final tuneup before going before the judge for a lefthanded piper and now he goes before the judge!

More! Here is an interesting fellow who in addition to running one of the beer tents is a collector of Scottish militaria. He often comes dressed in bits of his vast collection. He told me that at this year's Seaside Games he might have a museum area with ten or so mannequins dressed in historic Highland uniforms. More solo competition! The young Pipe Major of the Glendora High School Pipe Band winning the Grade One solo March, Strathspey, and Reel The LA Scots Grade One playing for the Drum Major competition Their Drum Line, joined by the lead tip of The Pasadena Scots Now time for the pipe band competition! Here is Queen City, from Denver, in Grade Three, playing interesting maple chanters, and sporting mismatched kilts (which would get them disqualified in Scotland but is perfectly acceptable by USA rules) And the wonderful Glendora High School Pipe Band The day takes its toll on this pair of Bandsmen
Wow. Jamie Cuthill is involved in so many bands. I knew it worked with the Colorado Youth but didn't know about Queen City. Looks like you had a great time there.

Hey somebody just posted a photo of the band I play in, tuning up before competition on Saturday. We were short a few pipers, should have more by Costa Mesa Sorry no pictures of the girls dancing on the bar. That sort of thing makes me uncomfortable and I just wanted to get my beer and get out.
